Wordle Strategy Guide
Start With Vowels
Use a first guess that contains 3 or more vowels. ADIEU and AUDIO each contain 4 vowels — this immediately tells you which vowels are present in the target word before using consonant-heavy guesses.
Target High-Frequency Letters
The 10 most common letters in 5-letter words are E, A, R, O, T, L, I, S, N, C. A strong first guess covers as many of these as possible. STARE covers 5 of the top 10 in a single guess.
Avoid Repeat Letters Early
In your first two guesses, avoid words with repeated letters. Each unique letter gives you new information. STEEL wastes a guess because you already knew E after one use — use STONE instead.
Use Yellow Letters
A yellow tile means the letter is in the word but not in that position. Move it to a different position in your next guess. Never guess a letter in the same position it showed yellow — that is guaranteed wrong.
Hard Mode Strategy
In hard mode you must use all revealed letters. This can trap you — plan two guesses ahead. Use your third guess to eliminate letters even if it means not using all confirmed letters yet, except when on your last guess.
Use This Solver
After two guesses you should have enough constraints to narrow the answer to under 20 words. Enter your clues above and the solver shows every valid match — then pick the word that tests the most remaining unknowns.
