How to Use the Unscrambler

Enter any combination of up to five letters and the unscrambler returns every valid 5-letter word that can be formed from those letters. Order does not matter — it checks all permutations. If you enter more than five letters, it also finds words that use any five-letter subset of your input. This is useful when you have six or seven tiles and want to identify the highest-scoring five-letter play available.

Scrabble and Word Game Use Cases

The most common use case is checking whether a rack of tiles contains a high-value 5-letter word. Letters like Q, Z, X, and J carry the most Scrabble points, so searching combinations that include them first is usually worth doing. The unscrambler also helps in Wordle when you suspect you know all five letters but cannot remember the correct order — enter the letters and review the valid arrangements.

Common Letter Combinations

Frequently unscrambled patterns include vowel-heavy sets like AEIOU, consonant clusters with S or R, and common suffix groups like -TION or -LING (adapted to five-letter constraints). Browse words with no repeated letters or words with the most vowels as starting references when your tile set leans heavily in one direction.
